'Always keep an eye on your compass in the lower left of the screen. It provides waypoints which you have to trigger in order for the next series of events to occur. Since Call of Duty 3 is very linear, it's imperative for you to keep an eye on the waypoints that appear on your compass to achieve success.Squad A.I.Frequently, you can allow your squad to run through the level to care of the German resistance. Use this to your advantage, especially in the Forest chapter. Whenever you can, let them take the gunfire for you. Major character won't die unless you kill them, and all other soldiers on your team are spawned canon fodder. Use them to find out where the strongest point of fire is coming from and eliminate it.Grenades and YouFrag and Smoke grenades are useful for clearing out large concentrations of enemies. Since Germans will always try to pick up and throw grenades back at you, remember to cook the grenade off before throwing by holding RB. Smoke grenades can help you advance unseen if you need cover. Both frag and smoke grenades are littered around the maps, making it relatively easy to find them. Also, become accustomed to picking up German grenades and throwing them back at their face. Quickly press the combination of the X button and the RB button for maximum success.ShootingWhen you have an automatic weapon, don't feel like you're Rambo or the Terminator. The longer you hold down that fire button with an automatic weapon, the better likelihood you are going to miss everything you're hoping to hit, run out of ammo, and get shot in the process. Automatic guns work best in short bursts of 1-5 bullets, depending on the gun and its clip. For instance, a thompson has a 20 bullet clip and works best in 2-3 shot bursts while an mp40 has a 32 bullet clip and probably works best in 1-4 shot bursts. Just make sure you do NOT hold down the trigger for a long time. Also, get used to pulling down the Left Trigger a lot, allowing you to look down the scope of the gun. This will provide for you the most accurate shot, period. Just get used to pressing the "aim down" button and the shooting trigger together. It saves ammo, time, and health'

Hint: The Island mission: Best gun early: On the second mission, "The Island", there will be a man under the second bridge with a FG42 scoped. That gun will get more ammunition every time you kill someone. The gun starts with 96 ammo remaining and you can kill about 150 people with it (not including melee).
